HypnoBirthing
When you change the way you view birth, the way you birth will change.
HypnoBirthing® classes are taught in a format of five, 2 & 1/2 hour classes. Take the classes sometime between your 16th and 35th week of pregnancy. If you’re very close to your birthing time, we can make special arrangements for private classes for you.
Carol Yeh-Garner holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work and is a former Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for empowering individuals through the mind-body connection. After experiencing the profound benefits of HypnoBirthing® during her own hospital births that were completely natural and unmedicated (her 2nd birth was 2 hours and pain-free!), Carol was inspired to become a HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator and became a Hypnotherapist. She has built a thriving hypnosis practice, specializing in clients dealing with infertility issues and has taught HypnoBirthing® to over 600 couples.
She is affiliated with the HypnoBirthing® Institute and is currently certified and authorized to teach the complete HypnoBirthing® program.

HypnoBirthing®
Women in our culture today hold an unprecedented fear of giving birth, too often associating it with excruciating pain, and thereby causing their bodies to become unable to perform what should be a normal physiological function. HypnoBirthing® is a unique method of relaxed, natural childbirth education enhanced by self‑hypnosis and guided imagery techniques that allow women to use their natural abilities to bring about safer, easier, and more comfortable birthing. When giving birth with HypnoBirthing®, a mother is not in a trance or asleep but instead in a state of deep relaxation—awake, aware, and fully in control.

HypnoBirthing®
WHY HYPNOBIRTHING®?
For most of their lives, women have been bombarded with scary birth stories—from family, friends, and even strangers. Over time, this creates a belief that birth is always excruciating and dangerous. That fear makes the body tense, and tension makes labor harder, longer, and more painful—often leading to interventions.
HypnoBirthing® offers a different way. It’s for women who want an unmedicated, natural birth that want to feel calm, confident, and in control—whether they’re birthing in a hospital, birth center, or at home. Through simple self-hypnosis and education, women learn to let go of fear, release myths, and trust their body’s natural ability to birth gently and safely—just as nature intended.
WHAT IS HYPNOBIRTHING®?
HypnoBirthing® is a tried and proven technique, as well as a philosophy that guides and prepares a woman and her partner in giving birth in a peaceful and empowered, beautiful manner. It is a program that considers the psychological, as well as the physical well-being of the mother, her birth partner, and the newborn.
The HypnoBirthing® program is built around an educational process that includes self-hypnosis, special breathing, deep relaxation, visualization, and meditative practices. Most importantly, it fosters an air of mutual respect for the birthing family, as well as the healthcare provider in a traditional healthcare system or an alternative setting.
In a series of five confidence-building classes, you’ll learn what makes labor hurt, but more importantly, you’ll learn the logic behind why labor doesn’t have to hurt and what you can do about it. You and your birth companion will learn about the physical and chemical changes that occur when fear and anxiety are allowed to accumulate within the body – and what you can do to reestablish a sense of calm. You will practice relaxation techniques in class, which will not only serve you well during your birthing, but will also become life skills.
It is a five week class series, two and a half hours each class that is ideally taken between your 5th and 7th month of pregnancy.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
- Effective breathing techniques to use during pregnancy, labor, birth, and parenthood.
- Positions and relaxation techniques to support labor & birth
- Tools for your birth companion to support you throughout your birth
- How the birthing body works efficiently and effectively through the different stages of labor
- How stress, fear, and tension can affect the course of your birth and how to prevent it
- How to avoid induction and unnecessary or unwanted intervention
- What to consider for creating your birth preferences and effectively communicating your preferences with your care provider
- How to use affirmations, visualizations, and deepening to enhance the mind-body connection
- and so much more! The only other class you’ll need to take is a breastfeeding class.
WHY IS IT A 5 WEEK CLASS?
We understand that as expecting parents, you are busier than ever and your time is precious, so being offered a single weekend childbirth class may seem enticing (until you really understand that a quick intensive course will not best prepare you for this major life event).
Self-hypnosis and deep relaxation are highly effective techniques for instinctive births. They are acquired skills that need to be learned gradually and practiced over time. Practicing between sessions provides you with time to condition your mind and body to the responses that make HypnoBirthing – The Mongan Method so successful. There is no shortcut, and this is why our program is taught in 5, 2.5-hour sessions.
HOW MUCH DO
CLASSES COST?
Tuition is $550 for online group classes. That price includes the 5 weekly sessions as well as all materials to be mailed to your home. Birth companions are encouraged to attend all classes with the pregnant mother and doulas are always welcome. The more the merrier!
The five-week series includes a HypnoBirthing® techniques textbook, spiral of parent handouts, relaxation tracks for at home practice, and everything you need to know to reconnect with your birthing instincts and create an amazing birthing experience!
Carol’s HypnoBirthing® class series are held online in the evenings on Mondays or Wednesdays and during the day on Tuesdays or Thursdays. She occasionally teaches in-person classes in La Costa.
